Buffalo
wings originated
in Buffalo, New York. The locals refer to them as "wings" or "chicken
wings" rather
than "Buffalo wings". "Buffalo"
is also commonly
applied to chicken fingers, chicken
nuggets, and popcorn
chicken seasoned with the Buffalo-style sauce or variations of it,
along with a number of sandwiches and other dishes that utilize the
special Buffalo sauce.
Buffalo
wings are
typically deep fried, grilled or baked and then generally coated in
Buffalo sauce. Traditional
Buffalo-style sauce is a
vinegar-based cayenne pepper hot
sauce and butter, and can be prepared with variable
amounts of both ingredients to provide just the right amount of "heat".
Buffalo
wings are
traditionally served with cut celery and blue cheese dressing - Yummy!
